Chubu Centrair International Airport is built on an artificial island off Tokoname in Ise Bay. For most travelers going to or from Nagoya Station, a direct Meitetsu train is the fastest and simplest choice. The all-reserved μSKY takes as little as 28 minutes and costs 1,430 yen, while an ordinary car on a direct train costs 980 yen and takes longer.

Access Plaza and the Two Terminals
Access Plaza is Centrair’s main transport hub. It connects Terminal 1 with Central Japan International Airport Station, airport buses, taxis, rental-car services and the high-speed boat. Its information counter provides transport and tourist guidance.
Terminal 1 is directly connected to Access Plaza. Terminal 2 is separate, so allow about 7-10 minutes to walk from the railway station or Access Plaza, depending on the route. A free shuttle bus also runs at roughly 15-minute intervals during its operating hours.
Temporary construction notice: As of 10-Jul-2026, Access Plaza is being renovated, with work scheduled through the end of August 2026. The central information counter has been temporarily relocated. Follow the current airport signs when passing through the plaza.
By Train – Meitetsu Limited Express
Meitetsu operates direct trains between Central Japan International Airport Station (TA24) and Meitetsu Nagoya Station (NH36). At the airport, the railway ticket gate is in Access Plaza. The μSKY normally uses Platform 1, while other services use Platforms 2 or 3. Check the departure display before boarding.

Regular tickets can be bought from the machines beside the gate. Nationwide-compatible transport IC cards such as manaca, Suica and ICOCA can also be used for the regular fare. A reserved first-class car requires a separate μticket in addition to the regular ticket or IC-card fare.
The μSKY Limited Express
The μSKY is the fastest direct option, completing the trip between the airport and Meitetsu Nagoya in as little as 28 minutes. All cars are reserved first-class cars.
The adult total is 1,430 yen: a regular fare of 980 yen plus a 450-yen μticket for the reserved seat. Both fare components are required. Buy the μticket before boarding from a station machine, ticket counter or Meitetsu’s online ticketless reservation service.

Direct Trains with Ordinary Cars
Direct Limited Express, Semi Express and other services provide a cheaper alternative. The adult regular fare is 980 yen when using an ordinary car, with no μticket required. Current Limited Express journeys are around 38 minutes, but the exact time depends on the departure and train type.
On Rapid Limited Express and Limited Express trains with both classes, cars 1 and 2 are first class and require a 450-yen μticket. The ordinary cars on the same train require only the regular fare. Check the car and boarding position rather than assuming every car has the same ticket rules.

By Bus
The former Centrair Limousine between the airport and Meitetsu Bus Center is fully suspended. The photograph below shows that former service.

The regular Meitetsu Centrair Limousine now links the airport with Fushimi and Sakae rather than Nagoya Station. The adult fare is 2,000 yen and the child fare is 1,000 yen. The airport gives a journey time of about 55 minutes, although the exact time varies by stop, direction and traffic. Reservations are not required, but the buses have a fixed seating capacity and passengers cannot board when full.
A separate bus serves Nagoya Station’s west side for selected late-night and early-flight journeys. Centrair lists a fare of 1,500 yen and a journey time of about 55 minutes, but it is not a frequent all-day alternative to the train. Check the current Centrair bus routes and schedules for the travel date.
By Rental Car
Toyota, Nippon Rent-A-Car, Times, ORIX and Nissan operate rental-car services at Centrair. Their counters, hours and pickup arrangements differ, so check the current Centrair rental-car directory and reserve in advance when possible.
Driving between Centrair and central Nagoya generally takes about 40-50 minutes in clear traffic, but congestion can add substantial time. Expressway tolls are additional and vary by entrance, route, vehicle type, ETC use and time of travel. Airport parking is also charged separately, with higher rates during designated busy periods.
When returning a rental car, allow time to refuel and follow the selected company’s return instructions. The airport-island gas station and rental-car return lanes are separate from the passenger drop-off route.
By Taxi
For Terminal 1, the taxi pickup area is on the first floor of Access Plaza. Terminal 2 has a separate first-floor taxi pickup area.
Centrair currently estimates a taxi between the airport and Nagoya Station at about 50 minutes and 16,000 yen. Expressway charges, including the Centrair Bridge toll, are additional. Traffic can change both the time and metered fare, and the common Nagoya-area tariff is 20% higher between 22:00 and 05:00.
For more general information, see our guide to taxis in Nagoya. Groups can also arrange an advance-reservation airport limousine or private shuttle through Tsubame Taxi. Prices and booking deadlines depend on the chosen shared or chartered service, so confirm the current conditions before travel.
Staying Overnight at Chubu Centrair Airport
Travelers arriving late or departing early have several options on the airport island. Centrair Hotel is inside the airport facilities, about 100 meters from the railway ticket gate. Comfort Hotel is about five minutes from Access Plaza through a connecting walkway.
Other airport-island hotels include Toyoko INN Central Japan International Airport 1, Toyoko INN Central Japan International Airport 2 and Four Points by Sheraton Nagoya, Chubu International Airport. TUBE Sq, on the first floor of Terminal 1, is a 24-hour capsule hotel that can be used for an overnight stay, a short rest or a shower. Check the existing Chubu Centrair Airport Hotel guide for room options and availability.
